BenefitType Property

Indicates whether the EBT card is a Food Stamps card or Cash Benefits card.

Syntax

 ptechbenefit.getBenefitType([callback])
 ptechbenefit.setBenefitType( benefitType, [callback])

Possible Values

  0 (btCashBenefits), 
  1 (btFoodStamps)

Callback

The 'callback' parameter specifies a function which will be called when the operation completes (or an error is encountered). If the 'callback' parameter is not specified, then the method will block and will not return until the operation completes (or an error is encountered).

The callback for the getBenefitType([callback]) method is defined as:

function(err, data){ }

'err' is the error that occurred. If there was no error, then 'err' is 'null'.

'data' is the value returned by the method.

The callback for the setBenefitType([callback]) method is defined as:

function(err){ }

'err' is the error that occurred. If there was no error, then 'err' is 'null'.

'err' has 2 properties which hold detailed information:

err.code
err.message

Remarks

Available Benefit Types include:

btCashBenefits (0)Cash benefits card. May be used like a debit card, and the customer may receive cash back. However, Credit transactions are not supported.
btFoodStamps (1)Food Stamps card. Works like a debit card, but the customer may not purchase non-food related items (including alcohol), or receive cash back.
