# Struct ipworksencrypt::RSA

Implements RSA public-key cryptography to encrypt/decrypt and sign/verify messages.

## Syntax

```text
ipworksencrypt::RSA
```

## Remarks

The RSA struct implements RSA public-key cryptography to encrypt/decrypt messages and sign/verify hash signatures.

To begin you must either specify an existing key or create a new key. Existing private keys may be specified by setting key. To create a new key call [create_key](#create_key-method-rsa-struct). Alternatively an existing certificate may be specified by setting certificate

**Signing**

To sign data first set key or certificate. Specify the input data using [input_file](#input_file-property-rsa-struct) or [input_message](#input_message-property-rsa-struct). Next call [sign](#sign-method-rsa-struct). The struct will populate [hash_value](#hash_value-property-rsa-struct) and [hash_signature](#hash_signature-property-rsa-struct). After calling [sign](#sign-method-rsa-struct) the public key must be sent to the recipient along with [hash_signature](#hash_signature-property-rsa-struct).

**Encrypting**

To encrypt data set recipient_key or recipient_cert. Specify the input data using [input_file](#input_file-property-rsa-struct) or [input_message](#input_message-property-rsa-struct). Next call [encrypt](#encrypt-method-rsa-struct). The struct will populate [output_message](#output_message-property-rsa-struct), or write to the file specified by [output_file](#output_file-property-rsa-struct).

**Signature Verification**

To verify a signature specify the input data using [input_file](#input_file-property-rsa-struct) or [input_message](#input_message-property-rsa-struct). Set signer_key or signer_cert. Next set [hash_signature](#hash_signature-property-rsa-struct) and call [verify_signature](#verify_signature-method-rsa-struct). The [verify_signature](#verify_signature-method-rsa-struct) method will return True if the signature was successfully verified.

**Decrypting**

To decrypt data first set key or certificate. Specify the input data using [input_file](#input_file-property-rsa-struct) or [input_message](#input_message-property-rsa-struct). Next call [decrypt](#decrypt-method-rsa-struct). The struct will populate [output_message](#output_message-property-rsa-struct), or write to the file specified by [output_file](#output_file-property-rsa-struct).

**Input and Output Properties**

The struct will determine the source and destination of the input and output based on which properties are set.

The order in which the input properties are checked is as follows:

- [input_file](#input_file-property-rsa-struct)
- [input_message](#input_message-property-rsa-struct)

When a valid source is found, the search stops. The order in which the output properties are checked is as follows:

- [output_file](#output_file-property-rsa-struct)
- [output_message](#output_message-property-rsa-struct): The output data is written to this property if no other destination is specified.

**RSA Keys**

A RSA key is made up of a number of individual parameters.

The public key consists of the following parameters:

- [key_modulus](#key_modulus-property-rsa-struct)
- [key_exponent](#key_exponent-property-rsa-struct)

The struct also includes the [key_public_key](#key_public_key-property-rsa-struct) property which holds the PEM formatted public key for ease of use. This is helpful if you are in control of both sides of the encryption/signing and decryption/signature verification process. When sending the public key to a recipient note that not all implementations will support using the PEM formatted value in [key_public_key](#key_public_key-property-rsa-struct) in which case the individual parameters must be sent.

The private key may be represented in one of two ways. Both are mathematically equivalent. Private key format 1:

- [key_modulus](#key_modulus-property-rsa-struct)
- [key_p](#key_p-property-rsa-struct)
- [key_q](#key_q-property-rsa-struct)
- [key_dp](#key_dp-property-rsa-struct)
- [key_dq](#key_dq-property-rsa-struct)

 Private key format 2 is simpler but has decreased performance when decrypting and signing. This format is:

- [key_modulus](#key_modulus-property-rsa-struct)
- [key_d](#key_d-property-rsa-struct)

 The struct also include the [key_private_key](#key_private_key-property-rsa-struct) property which holds the PEM formatted private key for ease of use. This is helpful for storing the private key more easily.

### Object Lifetime

 The *new()* method returns a mutable reference to a struct instance. The object itself is kept in the global list maintained by IPWorksEncrypt. Due to this, the RSA struct cannot be disposed of automatically. Please, call the *dispose(&mut; self)* method of RSA when you have finished using the instance.

The [cert_store_type](#cert_store_type-property-rsa-struct) property denotes the type of the certificate store specified by [cert_store](#cert_store-property-rsa-struct). If the store is password-protected, specify the password in [cert_store_password](#cert_store_password-property-rsa-struct).

[cert_store](#cert_store-property-rsa-struct) is used in conjunction with the [cert_subject](#cert_subject-property-rsa-struct) property to specify client certificates. If [cert_store](#cert_store-property-rsa-struct) has a value, and [cert_subject](#cert_subject-property-rsa-struct) or [cert_encoded](#cert_encoded-property-rsa-struct) is set, a search for a certificate is initiated. Please see the [cert_subject](#cert_subject-property-rsa-struct) property for details.

 Designations of certificate stores are platform dependent.

The following designations are the most common User and Machine certificate stores in Windows:

|  |  |
| --- | --- |
| MY | A certificate store holding personal certificates with their associated private keys. |
| CA | Certifying authority certificates. |
| ROOT | Root certificates. |

When the certificate store type is *cstPFXFile*, this property must be set to the name of the file. When the type is *cstPFXBlob*, the property must be set to the binary contents of a PFX file (i.e., PKCS#12 certificate store).

## Data Type

## Remarks

The type of certificate store for this certificate.

 The struct supports both public and private keys in a variety of formats. When the *cstAuto* value is used, the struct will automatically determine the type. This property can take one of the following values:

```csharp
sftp.SSHCert = new Certificate(CertStoreTypes.cstPKCS11,
                               @"C:\Program Files\OpenSC Project\OpenSC\pkcs11\opensc-pkcs11.dll",
                               "123456", // PIN
                               "CN=cert_subject");
sftp.SSHUser = "test";
sftp.SSHLogon("myhost", 22);
```

```csharp
certmgr.CertStoreType = CertStoreTypes.cstPKCS11;
certmgr.OnCertList += (s, e) => {
  secKeyBlob = e.CertEncoded;
};
certmgr.CertStore = @"C:\Program Files\OpenSC Project\OpenSC\pkcs11\opensc-pkcs11.dll";
certmgr.CertStorePassword = "123456"; // PIN
certmgr.ListStoreCertificates();
sftp.SSHCert = new Certificate(CertStoreTypes.cstPKCS11, secKeyBlob, "123456", "*");
sftp.SSHUser = "test";
sftp.SSHLogon("myhost", 22);
```

Code Example. SSH Authentication with Security Key (without CertMgr): Alternatively, collect the necessary data using the [CertMgr](#CertMgr) struct by calling the [list_store_certificates](#CertMgr_m_ListStoreCertificates) method after setting the corresponding properties accordingly. The certificate information returned in the [on_cert_list](#CertMgr_e_CertList) event's CertEncoded parameter may be saved for later use. When using a certificate obtained with this approach, pass the previously saved security key information as the [cert_store](#cert_store-property-rsa-struct) and set [cert_store_password](#cert_store_password-property-rsa-struct) to the PIN. Code Example. SSH Authentication with Security Key (with CertMgr): |
| 99 (cstAuto) | The store type is automatically detected from the input data. This setting may be used with both public and private keys and can detect any of the supported formats automatically. |

```
## Default Value
""
## Remarks
This property holds the computed hash value for the specified data. This is populated when calling [sign](#sign-method-rsa-struct) or [verify_signature](#verify_signature-method-rsa-struct) when an input file is specified by setting [input_file](#input_file-property-rsa-struct) or [input_message](#input_message-property-rsa-struct).
If you know the hash value prior to using the struct you may specify the pre-computed hash value here.
**Hash Notes**
The struct will determine whether or not to recompute the hash based on the properties that are set. If a file is specified by [input_file](#input_file-property-rsa-struct) or [input_message](#input_message-property-rsa-struct), the hash will be recomputed when calling [sign](#sign-method-rsa-struct) or [verify_signature](#verify_signature-method-rsa-struct). If the hash_value property is set, the struct will only sign the hash or verify the hash signature. Setting [input_file](#input_file-property-rsa-struct) or [input_message](#input_message-property-rsa-struct) clears the hash_value property. Setting the hash_value property clears the input file selection.
## Data Type
Vec
# input_file property ([RSA](#struct-ipworksencryptrsa) Struct)
The file to process.
## Syntax
*Rust Syntax*
```text

fn set_input_file_ref(&self, value : &String) ->  Option<IPWorksEncryptError>
```
## Default Value
""
## Remarks
This property specifies the file to be processed. Set this property to the full or relative path to the file which will be processed.
**Input and Output Properties**
The struct will determine the source and destination of the input and output based on which properties are set.
The order in which the input properties are checked is as follows:
- input_file
- [input_message](#input_message-property-rsa-struct)
When a valid source is found, the search stops. The order in which the output properties are checked is as follows:
- [output_file](#output_file-property-rsa-struct)
- [output_message](#output_message-property-rsa-struct): The output data is written to this property if no other destination is specified.
## Data Type
## Remarks
The type of certificate store for this certificate.
 The struct supports both public and private keys in a variety of formats. When the *cstAuto* value is used, the struct will automatically determine the type. This property can take one of the following values:
```csharp
sftp.SSHCert = new Certificate(CertStoreTypes.cstPKCS11,
                               @"C:\Program Files\OpenSC Project\OpenSC\pkcs11\opensc-pkcs11.dll",
                               "123456", // PIN
                               "CN=cert_subject");
sftp.SSHUser = "test";
sftp.SSHLogon("myhost", 22);
```
```csharp
certmgr.CertStoreType = CertStoreTypes.cstPKCS11;
certmgr.OnCertList += (s, e) => {
  secKeyBlob = e.CertEncoded;
};
certmgr.CertStore = @"C:\Program Files\OpenSC Project\OpenSC\pkcs11\opensc-pkcs11.dll";
certmgr.CertStorePassword = "123456"; // PIN
certmgr.ListStoreCertificates();

sftp.SSHCert = new Certificate(CertStoreTypes.cstPKCS11, secKeyBlob, "123456", "*");
sftp.SSHUser = "test";
sftp.SSHLogon("myhost", 22);
```
|  |  |
To use a security key, create a new [Certificate](#Type_Certificate) object and pass cstPKCS11 as the [recipient_cert_store_type](#recipient_cert_store_type-property-rsa-struct), the full path of the PKCS#11 DLL as the [recipient_cert_store](#recipient_cert_store-property-rsa-struct), and the PIN as the [recipient_cert_store_password](#recipient_cert_store_password-property-rsa-struct). Code Example. SSH Authentication with Security Key (without CertMgr): Alternatively, collect the necessary data using the [CertMgr](#CertMgr) struct by calling the [list_store_certificates](#CertMgr_m_ListStoreCertificates) method after setting the corresponding properties accordingly. The certificate information returned in the [on_cert_list](#CertMgr_e_CertList) event's CertEncoded parameter may be saved for later use. When using a certificate obtained with this approach, pass the previously saved security key information as the [recipient_cert_store](#recipient_cert_store-property-rsa-struct) and set [recipient_cert_store_password](#recipient_cert_store_password-property-rsa-struct) to the PIN. Code Example. SSH Authentication with Security Key (with CertMgr): |
| 99 (cstAuto) | The store type is automatically detected from the input data. This setting may be used with both public and private keys and can detect any of the supported formats automatically. |
## Remarks
The type of certificate store for this certificate.
 The struct supports both public and private keys in a variety of formats. When the *cstAuto* value is used, the struct will automatically determine the type. This property can take one of the following values:
```csharp
sftp.SSHCert = new Certificate(CertStoreTypes.cstPKCS11,
                               @"C:\Program Files\OpenSC Project\OpenSC\pkcs11\opensc-pkcs11.dll",
                               "123456", // PIN
                               "CN=cert_subject");
sftp.SSHUser = "test";
sftp.SSHLogon("myhost", 22);
```
```csharp
certmgr.CertStoreType = CertStoreTypes.cstPKCS11;
certmgr.OnCertList += (s, e) => {
  secKeyBlob = e.CertEncoded;
};
certmgr.CertStore = @"C:\Program Files\OpenSC Project\OpenSC\pkcs11\opensc-pkcs11.dll";
certmgr.CertStorePassword = "123456"; // PIN
certmgr.ListStoreCertificates();

sftp.SSHCert = new Certificate(CertStoreTypes.cstPKCS11, secKeyBlob, "123456", "*");
sftp.SSHUser = "test";
sftp.SSHLogon("myhost", 22);
```
To use a security key, create a new [Certificate](#Type_Certificate) object and pass cstPKCS11 as the [signer_cert_store_type](#signer_cert_store_type-property-rsa-struct), the full path of the PKCS#11 DLL as the [signer_cert_store](#signer_cert_store-property-rsa-struct), and the PIN as the [signer_cert_store_password](#signer_cert_store_password-property-rsa-struct). Code Example. SSH Authentication with Security Key (without CertMgr): Alternatively, collect the necessary data using the [CertMgr](#CertMgr) struct by calling the [list_store_certificates](#CertMgr_m_ListStoreCertificates) method after setting the corresponding properties accordingly. The certificate information returned in the [on_cert_list](#CertMgr_e_CertList) event's CertEncoded parameter may be saved for later use. When using a certificate obtained with this approach, pass the previously saved security key information as the [signer_cert_store](#signer_cert_store-property-rsa-struct) and set [signer_cert_store_password](#signer_cert_store_password-property-rsa-struct) to the PIN. Code Example. SSH Authentication with Security Key (with CertMgr): |
| 99 (cstAuto) | The store type is automatically detected from the input data. This setting may be used with both public and private keys and can detect any of the supported formats automatically. |
# use_hex property ([RSA](#struct-ipworksencryptrsa) Struct)
Whether input or output is hex encoded.
## Syntax
*Rust Syntax*
```text
fn use_hex(&self ) -> Result<bool, IPWorksEncryptError> fn set_use_hex(&self, value : bool) ->  Option<IPWorksEncryptError>
```
## Default Value
false
## Remarks
This property specifies whether the encrypted data, [hash_value](#hash_value-property-rsa-struct), and [hash_signature](#hash_signature-property-rsa-struct) are hex encoded.
If set to True, when [encrypt](#encrypt-method-rsa-struct) is called the struct will perform the encryption as normal and then hex encode the output. [output_message](#output_message-property-rsa-struct) or [output_file](#output_file-property-rsa-struct) will hold hex encoded data.
If set to True, when [decrypt](#decrypt-method-rsa-struct) is called the struct will expect [input_message](#input_message-property-rsa-struct) or [input_file](#input_file-property-rsa-struct) to hold hex encoded data. The struct will then hex decode the data and perform decryption as normal.
If set to True, when [sign](#sign-method-rsa-struct) is called the struct will compute the hash for the specified file and populate [hash_value](#hash_value-property-rsa-struct) with the hex encoded hash value. It will then create the hash signature and populate [hash_signature](#hash_signature-property-rsa-struct) with the hex encoded hash signature value. If [hash_value](#hash_value-property-rsa-struct) is specified directly, it must be a hex encoded value.
If set to True, when [verify_signature](#verify_signature-method-rsa-struct) is called the struct will compute the hash value for the specified file and populate [hash_value](#hash_value-property-rsa-struct) with the hex encoded hash value. It will then hex decode [hash_signature](#hash_signature-property-rsa-struct) and verify the signature. [hash_signature](#hash_signature-property-rsa-struct) must hold a hex encoded value. If [hash_value](#hash_value-property-rsa-struct) is specified directly, it must be a hex encoded value.
## Data Type
bool
# config method ([RSA](#struct-ipworksencryptrsa) Struct)
Sets or retrieves a configuration setting.
## Syntax
*Rust Syntax*
```text
fn config(&self, configuration_string : &str) ->  Result<String, IPWorksEncryptError>
```
## Remarks
config is a generic method available in every struct. It is used to set and retrieve [configuration settings](#config-settings-rsa-struct) for the struct.
These settings are similar in functionality to properties, but they are rarely used. In order to avoid "polluting" the property namespace of the struct, access to these *internal properties* is provided through the config method.
To set a configuration setting named *PROPERTY*, you must call *Config("PROPERTY=VALUE")*, where *VALUE* is the value of the setting expressed as a string. For boolean values, use the strings "True", "False", "0", "1", "Yes", or "No" (case does not matter).
To read (query) the value of a [configuration setting](#config-settings-rsa-struct), you must call *Config("PROPERTY")*. The value will be returned as a string.
# create_key method ([RSA](#struct-ipworksencryptrsa) Struct)
Creates a new key.
## Syntax
*Rust Syntax*
```text
fn create_key(&self) -> Result<(), IPWorksEncryptError>
```
## Remarks
This method creates a new public and private key.
When calling create_key the key property is populated with a new private and public key.
**RSA Keys**
A RSA key is made up of a number of individual parameters.
The public key consists of the following parameters:
- [key_modulus](#key_modulus-property-rsa-struct)
- [key_exponent](#key_exponent-property-rsa-struct)
The struct also includes the [key_public_key](#key_public_key-property-rsa-struct) property which holds the PEM formatted public key for ease of use. This is helpful if you are in control of both sides of the encryption/signing and decryption/signature verification process. When sending the public key to a recipient note that not all implementations will support using the PEM formatted value in [key_public_key](#key_public_key-property-rsa-struct) in which case the individual parameters must be sent.
The private key may be represented in one of two ways. Both are mathematically equivalent. Private key format 1:
- [key_modulus](#key_modulus-property-rsa-struct)
- [key_p](#key_p-property-rsa-struct)
- [key_q](#key_q-property-rsa-struct)
- [key_dp](#key_dp-property-rsa-struct)
- [key_dq](#key_dq-property-rsa-struct)
 Private key format 2 is simpler but has decreased performance when decrypting and signing. This format is:
- [key_modulus](#key_modulus-property-rsa-struct)
- [key_d](#key_d-property-rsa-struct)
 The struct also include the [key_private_key](#key_private_key-property-rsa-struct) property which holds the PEM formatted private key for ease of use. This is helpful for storing the private key more easily.
# decrypt method ([RSA](#struct-ipworksencryptrsa) Struct)
Decrypts the input data using the specified private key.
## Syntax
*Rust Syntax*
```text
fn decrypt(&self) -> Result<(), IPWorksEncryptError>
```
## Remarks
This method decrypts the input data using the private key specified in key. Alternatively, a certificate may be specified by setting certificate.
**Input and Output Properties**
The struct will determine the source and destination of the input and output based on which properties are set.
The order in which the input properties are checked is as follows:
- [input_file](#input_file-property-rsa-struct)
- [input_message](#input_message-property-rsa-struct)
When a valid source is found, the search stops. The order in which the output properties are checked is as follows:
- [output_file](#output_file-property-rsa-struct)
- [output_message](#output_message-property-rsa-struct): The output data is written to this property if no other destination is specified.
**Key Size and the Maximum Length of Data**
RSA has an upper limit to the amount of data that can be encrypted or decrypted, also known as message length. This can typically be calculated as the size of the key minus the size of the RSA header and padding.
When not using OAEP, the following formula and table can be referenced. (RSA Key Bytes) - (Header Bytes) = Length of data, where Header Bytes is always 11.
| RSA Key Length (bits) | Length (bits) | Length (bytes) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1024 | 936 | 117 |
| 2048 | 1960 | 245 |
| 3072 | 2984 | 373 |
| 4096 | 4008 | 501 |
When using OAEP, the following formula and table can be referenced. (RSA Key Bytes) - (2 * Hash Length Bytes) - 2 = Length of data. The table below assumes SHA-256 for the hash, so Hash Length Bytes is 32.
| RSA Key Length (bits) | Length (bits) | Length (bytes) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1024 | 496 | 62 |
| 2048 | 1520 | 190 |
| 3072 | 2544 | 318 |
| 4096 | 3568 | 446 |
# encrypt method ([RSA](#struct-ipworksencryptrsa) Struct)
Encrypts the input data using the recipient's public key.
## Syntax
*Rust Syntax*
```text
fn encrypt(&self) -> Result<(), IPWorksEncryptError>
```
## Remarks
This method encrypts the input data using the public key specified in recipient_key. Alternatively, a certificate may be specified by setting recipient_cert.
**Input and Output Properties**
The struct will determine the source and destination of the input and output based on which properties are set.
The order in which the input properties are checked is as follows:
- [input_file](#input_file-property-rsa-struct)
- [input_message](#input_message-property-rsa-struct)
When a valid source is found, the search stops. The order in which the output properties are checked is as follows:
- [output_file](#output_file-property-rsa-struct)
- [output_message](#output_message-property-rsa-struct): The output data is written to this property if no other destination is specified.
# reset method ([RSA](#struct-ipworksencryptrsa) Struct)
Resets the struct.
## Syntax
*Rust Syntax*
```text
fn reset(&self) -> Result<(), IPWorksEncryptError>
```
## Remarks
When called, the struct will reset all of its properties to their default values.
# sign method ([RSA](#struct-ipworksencryptrsa) Struct)
Creates a hash signature.
## Syntax
*Rust Syntax*
```text
fn sign(&self) -> Result<(), IPWorksEncryptError>
```
## Remarks
This method will create a hash signature.
Before calling this method specify the input file by setting [input_file](#input_file-property-rsa-struct) or [input_message](#input_message-property-rsa-struct).
A key is required to create the hash signature. You may create a new key by calling [create_key](#create_key-method-rsa-struct), or specify an existing key pair in key. Alternatively, a certificate may be specified by setting certificate. When this method is called the struct will compute the hash for the specified file and populate [hash_value](#hash_value-property-rsa-struct). It will then create the hash signature using the specified key and populate [hash_signature](#hash_signature-property-rsa-struct).
To create the hash signature without first computing the hash simply specify [hash_value](#hash_value-property-rsa-struct) before calling this method.
The [on_progress](#on_progress-event-rsa-struct) event will fire with updates for the hash computation progress only. The hash signature creation process is quick and does not require progress updates.
# verify_signature method ([RSA](#struct-ipworksencryptrsa) Struct)
Verifies the signature for the specified data.
## Syntax
*Rust Syntax*
```text
fn verify_signature(&self) ->  Result<bool, IPWorksEncryptError>
```
## Remarks
This method will verify a hash signature.
Before calling this method specify the input file by setting [input_file](#input_file-property-rsa-struct) or [input_message](#input_message-property-rsa-struct).
A public key and the hash signature are required to perform the signature verification. Specify the public key in signer_key. Alternatively, a certificate may be specified by setting signer_cert. Specify the hash signature in [hash_signature](#hash_signature-property-rsa-struct).
When this method is called the struct will compute the hash for the specified file and populate [hash_value](#hash_value-property-rsa-struct). It will verify the signature using the specified signer_key and [hash_signature](#hash_signature-property-rsa-struct).
To verify the hash signature without first computing the hash simply specify [hash_value](#hash_value-property-rsa-struct) before calling this method.
The [on_progress](#on_progress-event-rsa-struct) event will fire with updates for the hash computation progress only. The hash signature verification process is quick and does not require progress updates.
# on_error event ([RSA](#struct-ipworksencryptrsa) Struct)
Fired when information is available about errors during data delivery.
## Syntax
*Rust Syntax*
```text
// RSAErrorEventArgs carries the RSA Error event's parameters.
pub struct RSAErrorEventArgs {
  fn error_code(&self) -> i32
  fn description(&self) -> &String
}

// RSAErrorEvent defines the signature of the RSA Error event's handler function.
pub trait RSAErrorEvent {
  fn on_error(&self, sender : RSA, e : &mut RSAErrorEventArgs);
}

impl <'a> RSA<'a> {
  pub fn on_error(&self) -> &'a dyn RSAErrorEvent;
  pub fn set_on_error(&mut self, value : &'a dyn RSAErrorEvent);
  ...
}
```
## Remarks
The on_error event is fired in case of exceptional conditions during message processing. Normally the struct fails with an error.
The *error_code* parameter contains an error code, and the *description* parameter contains a textual description of the error. For a list of valid error codes and their descriptions, please refer to the [Error Codes](#trappable-errors-rsa-struct) section.
# on_progress event ([RSA](#struct-ipworksencryptrsa) Struct)
Fired as progress is made.
## Syntax
*Rust Syntax*
```text
// RSAProgressEventArgs carries the RSA Progress event's parameters.
pub struct RSAProgressEventArgs {
  fn bytes_processed(&self) -> i64
  fn percent_processed(&self) -> i32
}

// RSAProgressEvent defines the signature of the RSA Progress event's handler function.
pub trait RSAProgressEvent {
  fn on_progress(&self, sender : RSA, e : &mut RSAProgressEventArgs);
}

impl <'a> RSA<'a> {
  pub fn on_progress(&self) -> &'a dyn RSAProgressEvent;
  pub fn set_on_progress(&mut self, value : &'a dyn RSAProgressEvent);
  ...
}
```
## Remarks
This event is fired automatically as data is processed by the struct.
The *PercentProcessed* parameter indicates the current status of the operation.
The *BytesProcessed* parameter holds the total number of bytes processed so far.
# Config Settings ([RSA](#struct-ipworksencryptrsa) Struct)
 The struct accepts one or more of the following *configuration settings*. Configuration settings are similar in functionality to properties, but they are rarely used. In order to avoid "polluting" the property namespace of the struct, access to these *internal properties* is provided through the [config](#config-method-rsa-struct) method.
### RSA Config Settings
**KeyFormat**: How the public and private key are formatted.This setting controls the format of [key_public_key](#key_public_key-property-rsa-struct) and [key_private_key](#key_private_key-property-rsa-struct). By default these properties hold PEM formatted public and private key data. When set to 1 (XML) the keys are stored in a XML format. This only affects the values returned by the struct; the actual keys remain the same regardless of this setting. Possible values are:
- 0 (PEM - PKCS#1)
- 1 (XML)
- 2 (PEM - PKCS#8 - default)
 The default value is 2 (PEM - PKCS#8).
**KeySize**: The size, in bits, of the secret key.This specifies the size, in bits, of the secret key. The minimum key size for RSA is 384. The maximum key size is 4096. Note that large values such as 4096 will impact performance. The default value is 1024.
**OAEPMGF1HashAlgorithm**: The MGF1 hash algorithm used with OAEP.This configuration setting specifies the MGF1 hash algorithm used when [use_oaep](#use_oaep-property-rsa-struct) is set to True. The default value is *SHA256*. Possible values are as follows:
- "SHA1"
- "SHA224"
- "SHA256" (default)
- "SHA384"
- "SHA512"
- "RIPEMD160"
- "MD2"
- "MD5"
- "MD5SHA1"
Note: The RSA hash algorithm used for OAEP is controlled via the [hash_algorithm](#hash_algorithm-property-rsa-struct) property.
**OAEPParams**: The hex encoded OAEP parameters.This configuration setting optionally specifies Optimal Asymmetric Encryption Padding (OAEP) parameters to be used when [use_oaep](#use_oaep-property-rsa-struct) is set to True. The value is an optional application-defined label and should be hex encoded. In most cases this does not need to be set; both sides must use the same value for encryption and decryption to succeed.
**UsePrimitive**: Enables primitive RSA encryption with no padding scheme or output modification.Instructs the component to use primitive RSA encryption with no padding scheme and without stripping leading zeros from the output of [encrypt](#encrypt-method-rsa-struct). The output size will match the modulus length, as defined by the original RSA specification.
 Overrides the [use_oaep](#use_oaep-property-rsa-struct) property if specified.
 **Warning:** This configuration is not considered cryptographically secure on its own. Padding schemes play a critical role in the security of modern RSA implementations. Use only when necessary for compatibility, and note that the user assumes all responsibility when enabling this option.
### Base Config Settings
**BuildInfo**: Information about the product's build.When queried, this setting will return a string containing information about the product's build.
**CodePage**: The system code page used for Unicode to Multibyte translations.The default code page is Unicode UTF-8 (65001).
**LicenseInfo**: Information about the current license.When queried, this setting will return a string containing information about the license this instance of a struct is using. It will return the following information:
- Product: The product the license is for.
- Product Key: The key the license was generated from.
- License Source: Where the license was found (e.g., RuntimeLicense, License File).
- License Type: The type of license installed (e.g., Royalty Free, Single Server).
- Last Valid Build: The last valid build number for which the license will work.
**MaskSensitiveData**: Whether sensitive data is masked in log messages.In certain circumstances it may be beneficial to mask sensitive data, like passwords, in log messages. Set this to *true* to mask sensitive data. The default is *true*.
**UseInternalSecurityAPI**: Whether or not to use the system security libraries or an internal implementation. When set to *false*, the struct will use the system security libraries by default to perform cryptographic functions where applicable.
Setting this configuration setting to *true* tells the struct to use the internal implementation instead of using the system security libraries.
 On Windows, this setting is set to *false* by default. On Linux/macOS, this setting is set to *true* by default.
 To use the system security libraries for Linux, OpenSSL support must be enabled. For more information on how to enable OpenSSL, please refer to the [OpenSSL Notes](platforms.md) section.
