TraceTo Method

Trace the route to a host.

Syntax

traceroute.traceTo(host, [callback])

Callback

The 'callback' parameter specifies a function which will be called when the operation completes (or an error is encountered). If the 'callback' parameter is not specified, then the method will block and will not return until the operation completes (or an error is encountered).

The callback for this method is defined as:

function(err){ }

'err' is the error that occurred. If there was no error, then 'err' is 'null'.

'err' has 2 properties which hold detailed information:

err.code
err.message

Remarks

Traces are initiated by calling TraceTo, with the Host argument set to the name or address of the destination host to trace to. Host must contain a valid Internet domain name or address, or the class fails with an error. To interrupt a trace in progress, set RemoteHost to empty string. Calling this method is equivalent to setting the RemoteHost property to Host.

Example (Perform a TraceRoute)

TraceRouteControl.TraceTo("myHost")
is equivalent to
TraceRouteControl.RemoteHost = "myHost"
