HTTP Adapter

Properties   Config Settings

The HTTP component provides a flexible HTTP client to send and receive data to web servers.

Remarks

The HTTP adapter implements a highly configurable HTTP client that is capable of sending and receiving data to and from web servers. Support includes issuing simple GET requests as well as defining custom form and file parameters to be POSTed to server. URL defines the location to which the request is made.

The adapter supports HTTP 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0 which can be configured in the HTTPVersion property.

The HTTPMethod property defines the HTTP method to use. Possible values are:

  • DELETE
  • GET (default)
  • HEAD
  • POST
  • PUT
  • TRACE

Getting Data From the Server

In both the Send Adapter and the Receive Adapter if HTTPMethod is set to GET the request is issued to the server specified by URL. Additional custom headers may be specified in the request by setting OtherHeaders.

The response received by the adapter will be used as the body of the submitted BizTalk message. In the case of the Send Adapter the response message is only returned when the adapter is configured in a solicit response port (recommended). The HTTP headers of the response are available via the TransferredHeaders context property of the message.

Sending Data To the Server

When HTTPMethod is set to POST or PUT data will be sent to the server. The RequestParams property specifies one or more parameters to add to the POST or PUT request. This property is only applicable when the HTTPMethod property is set to POST or PUT.

To specify additional parameters set this property to one or more name value pairs. Set one pair on each line. For instance: name1=value1 name2=value2

The adapter will format a request with parameters slightly differently depending on whether the request is made by the Send or Receive adapter.

Note: To have complete control over the data being sent set PostData instead.

Send Adapter

When sending a POST or PUT request the BizTalk message body will always be used as the last parameter regardless of the values specified in RequestParams. If no values are set here then a request will be made with only one parameter which is the content of the message. Several examples and additional details follow.

Basic Example:

Setting the RequestParams to a value of: name1=value1 name2=value2

Will result in a HTTP request like this: POST / HTTP/1.1 Host: www.nsoftware.com Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate User-Agent: IPWorks HTTP Component - www.nsoftware.com Connection: close Content-Type: multipart/form-data; boundary="boundaryV+iTxA==" Content-Length: 335 --boundaryV+iTxA== Content-Disposition: form-data; name="name1" Content-Type: text/plain value1 --boundaryV+iTxA== Content-Disposition: form-data; name="name2" Content-Type: text/plain value2 --boundaryV+iTxA== Content-Disposition: form-data Content-Type: application/octet-stream message body --boundaryV+iTxA==--

Notice that the default "Content-Type" for the individual request parameters is "text/plain", and the default "Content-Type" for the message form variable is "application/octet-stream" and has no defined name attribute. See the following examples for further details.

Custom Request Parameter Content-Type Values:

When sending requests the RequestParams may optionally include a custom Content-Type value. The syntax is:

[ContentType]name=value

For instance setting RequestParams to a value of: [text/html]name1=value1 [my/type]name2=value2 name3=value3 Will result in a HTTP request like: POST / HTTP/1.1 Host: www.nsoftware.com Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate User-Agent: IPWorks HTTP Component - www.nsoftware.com Connection: close Content-Type: multipart/form-data; boundary="boundaryQDNEUw==" Content-Length: 439 --boundaryQDNEUw== Content-Disposition: form-data; name="name1" Content-Type: text/html value1 --boundaryQDNEUw== Content-Disposition: form-data; name="name2" Content-Type: my/type value2 --boundaryQDNEUw== Content-Disposition: form-data; name="name3" Content-Type: text/plain value3 --boundaryQDNEUw== Content-Disposition: form-data Content-Type: application/octet-stream message body --boundaryQDNEUw==--

Note the updated Content-Type header values for the "name1" and "name2" parameters.

Custom Content-Type and Name Values for the BizTalk Message Variable:

The default Content-Type value for the BizTalk Message form variable is "application/octet-stream" and no "name" attribute is defined in the Content-Disposition header. These can be explicitly defined in the ContentType and ContentFileName properties. These properties are applicable to the BizTalk Message form variable even if RequestParams is not set. For instance setting:

And leaving RequestParams unspecified (no parameters) will result in a HTTP request like:

POST / HTTP/1.1 Host: www.nsoftware.com Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate User-Agent: IPWorks HTTP Component - www.nsoftware.com Connection: close Content-Type: multipart/form-data; boundary="boundaryVAJHkA==" Content-Length: 142 --boundaryVAJHkA== Content-Disposition: form-data; name="myfile.txt" Content-Type: text/html message body --boundaryVAJHkA==--

Receive Adapter

In the receive adapter the RequestParams are used to form the body of the POST or PUT request using the more lightweight encoding "application/x-www-form-urlencoded". For instance, setting the request parameters to: name1=value1 name2=value2

Will result in a HTTP request like:

POST / HTTP/1.1 Host: www.nsoftware.com Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate User-Agent: IPWorks HTTP Component - www.nsoftware.com Connection: close Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded Content-Length: 25 name1=value1&name2=value2

To maintain complete control over the POST body PostData may be set instead. Additional Settings

In addition to the basic operation as discussed above the adapter supports a variety of other settings that control authentication, proxy settings, and other behavior. Some of additional features include:

Setting the HTTP Adapter Configuration Properties for a Dynamic Send Port

A dynamic send port does not provide any transport configuration options in BizTalk Explorer because it is expected that these properties will be provided with the context properties associated with the message. These properties can be set in a custom pipeline or in an orchestration. To set message configuration properties in an orchestration you can do the following:

  • Add a Construct Message shape to your orchestration.
  • Configure the Construct Message shape to construct a new message. (for example Message_2)
  • Add a Message Assignment shape to the Construct Message shape.
  • Add code to the Message Assignment shape to initialize the message that you constructed and to set the appropriate configuration properties for the message.

Configuring the HTTP Send Port with the BizTalk Server Administration Console

To configure the send port by using the BizTalk Server Administration console, use the following procedure:

To configure variables for a HTTP send port:

  1. In the BizTalk Server Administration console, create a new send port or double-click an existing send port to modify it. For more information, see How to Create a Send Port. Authorization Property (HTTP Adapter)

The Authorization string to be sent to the server.

Data Type

String

Default Value

""

Remarks

If the Authorization property contains a non-empty string, an Authorization HTTP request header is added to the request. This header conveys Authorization information to the server.

A common use for this property is to specify OAuth authorization string.

This property is provided so that the HTTP adapter can be extended with other security schemes in addition to the authorization schemes already implemented by the adapter.

The AuthScheme property defines the authentication scheme used. In the case of HTTP Basic Authentication (default), every time User and Password are set, they are Base64 encoded, and the result is put in the Authorization property in the form "Basic [encoded-user-password]".

AuthScheme Property (HTTP Adapter)

The authorization scheme to be used when server authorization is to be performed.

Data Type

Enumeration

Possible Values

Basic (0)
Digest (1)
Proprietary (2)
None (3)
Ntlm (4)
Negotiate (5)
OAuth (6)

Default Value

0

Remarks

This property specifies the type of authentication to perform. Possible values are:

  • Basic
  • Digest
  • Proprietary
  • None
  • NTLM
  • Negotiate
  • OAuth

In most cases this setting is only applicable if User and Password is set.

This property is also applicable without setting User and Password if the AuthScheme is set to NTLM or Negotiate. In that case the current user credentials will be used.

AuthScheme should be set to authNone (3) when no authentication is to be performed (or do not set HTTPUser and HTTPPassword).

By default, AuthScheme is authBasic (0), and if the HTTPUser and HTTPPassword properties are set, the adapter will attempt basic authentication. If AuthScheme is set to authDigest (1) or authNtlm (4), digest or NTLM authentication will be attempted instead.

If AuthScheme is set to authProprietary (2) then the authorization token must be supplied through the HTTPAuthorization configuration. Note that, if you set the HTTPAuthorization config, the AuthScheme will be set automatically to authProprietary (2) by the control.

If AuthScheme is set to authOAuth (6) then the authorization string must be supplied through Authorization property.

ContentFileName Property (HTTP Adapter)

Defines the filename of the content.

Data Type

String

Default Value

""

Remarks

This property optionally sets the "name" attribute of the "Content-Disposition" header for the form variable corresponding to the message body. This is used to associate a filename with the data obtained from the message body.

This is only applicable when HTTPMethod is set to POST or PUT.

This is only applicable to the Send Adapter.

This is not applicable if PostData is set.

This property is not available in the Receiver.

ContentType Property (HTTP Adapter)

Defines the Content-Type header in the request.

Data Type

String

Default Value

""

Remarks

This property optionally defines the Content-Type header sent in the request.

This property is applicable when using the Send Adapter to define the "Content-Type" header of the form variable for the BizTalk message body. See RequestParams for details about the HTTP request structure.

This is applicable to both the Send and Receive Adapter when PostData is set and defines the Content-Type header (not a form variable level Content-Type).

Cookies Property (HTTP Adapter)

The cookies to be sent in the HTTP request.

Data Type

String

Default Value

""

Remarks

This property specifies the cookies (if any) to be sent in the HTTP request. Specify one name/value pair per line. For instance setting this property to: CookieName1=CookieValue1 CookieName2=CookieValue2

Will result in the HTTP header:

Cookie: CookieName1=CookieValue1; CookieName2=CookieValue2

ErrorThreshold Property (HTTP Adapter)

The maximum number of errors before the component shuts down.

Data Type

Integer

Default Value

5

Remarks

This property limits the number of errors that the adapter can incur before it shuts down and stops processing messages.

If set to 0 the adapter will never shutdown.

Note that if the operation completes successfully the current error count will be reset.

This property may be configured on the adapter's static handler property page in the BizTalk Server administration console.

This property is not available in the Sender.

Firewall Property (HTTP Adapter)

A set of properties related to firewall access.

Data Type

Firewall

Remarks

This is a Firewall type property which contains fields describing the firewall through which the adapter will attempt to connect.

FollowRedirects Property (HTTP Adapter)

Determines what happens when the server issues a redirect.

Data Type

Enumeration

Possible Values

Never (0)
Always (1)
Same Scheme (2)

Default Value

0

Remarks

Normally, the adapter returns an error if the server responds with an "Object Moved" message. If FollowRedirects is set to frAlways (1) the new URL for the object is retrieved automatically every time.

If FollowRedirects is set to frSameScheme (2), the new URL is retrieved automatically only if the URL scheme is the same, otherwise the adapter generate a runtime error.

Furthermore, if either the new URL server and port are different than the existing one, HTTPUser and HTTPPassword are also reset to empty, unless FollowRedirects is set to frAlways (1), in which case the same credentials are used to connect to the new server.

The default value is frNever (0). In this case, redirects are never followed, and a runtime error is generated instead.

HTTPMethod Property (HTTP Adapter)

The HTTP method used for the request.

Data Type

Enumeration

Possible Values

DELETE (0)
GET (1)
HEAD (2)
POST (3)
PUT (4)
TRACE (5)
PATCH (6)

Default Value

1

Remarks

This property specifies the HTTP method to use when making a request to the server. Possible values are:

  • DELETE
  • GET (default)
  • HEAD
  • POST
  • PUT
  • TRACE

When set to POST or PUT see RequestParams and PostData for details about sending data to the server.

To specify a different HTTP method set CustomRequestMethod.

HTTPProxy Property (HTTP Adapter)

A set of properties related to proxy access.

Data Type

Proxy

Remarks

This is a Proxy type property which contains fields describing the proxy through which the adapter will attempt to connect.

HTTPVersion Property (HTTP Adapter)

The HTTP version to use.

Data Type

String

Default Value

"1.1"

Remarks

This property specifies the HTTP version used by the adapter. Possible values are:

  • "1.0"
  • "1.1" (default)
  • "2.0"
When using HTTP/2 ("2.0") additional details apply. Please see notes below for details.

HTTP/2 Notes

When using HTTP/2 only secure (TLS/SSL) connections are currently supported. Attempting to use a plaintext URL with HTTP/2 will result in an error.

If the server does not support HTTP/2 the adapter will automatically use HTTP/1.1 instead. This is done in order to provide compatibility without the need for any additional settings. The AllowHTTPFallback setting controls whether this behavior is allowed (default) or disallowed.

HTTP/2 is supported on all versions of Windows. If the Windows version is prior to Windows 8.1/Windows Server 2012 R2 the internal security implementation will be used. If the Windows version is Window 8.1/Windows Server 2012 R2 or later the system security libraries will be used by default.

The HTTPVersion context property will be set on the BizTalk message to indicate which HTTP version was used.

MaxBatchSize Property (HTTP Adapter)

The maximum size, in MB, of the current batch (0 indicates no limit).

Data Type

Integer

Default Value

0

Remarks

This property limits the maximum amount of data the adapter can store before finalizing and processing the current batch to the number of bytes indicated.

Note: the default value, "0" indicates that there is no limit on the size of the batch. This value is not recommended for production environments as it may result in extremely large batches being held in memory before the adapter moves the data to the next stage of processing.

This property may be configured on the adapter's static handler property page in the BizTalk Server administration console.

This property is not available in the Sender.

MaxFileCount Property (HTTP Adapter)

The maximum number of files in the current batch (0 indicates no limit).

Data Type

Integer

Default Value

10

Remarks

This property places a limit on the number of files that can be transmitted in a single batch.

This property may be configured on the adapter's static handler property page in the BizTalk Server administration console.

This property is not available in the Sender.

MaxFileSize Property (HTTP Adapter)

The maximum size, in MB, of a file in the current batch (0 indicates no limit).

Data Type

Integer

Default Value

0

Remarks

This property limits the maximum size of any file in the current transmission batch to the number of bytes indicated.

MaxPersistentConnections Property (HTTP Adapter)

The maximum number of simultaneous persistent connections when sending.

Data Type

Integer

Default Value

1

Remarks

This setting specifies the maximum number of simultaneous persistent connections when sending.

The default value is 1, which limits the adapter to using one persistent connection for the adapter at any one time. This means when ConnectionLifetime is set to Persisted the send adapter will first check to see if an existing connection is present before transmitting data. In the case where a connection exists but another instance of the send port is using the connection the adapter will wait for the connection to become free. A value of 1 effectively serializes all communication for the send port through one persistent connection.

By setting a value greater than 1 a pool of persistent connections can be created. This allows multiple simultaneous persistent connections to be used. When the send adapter is active it will check to see if there are any existing connections. In the case where a connection exists but is being used by another instance of the send port it will attempt to create a new persistent connection. If creating a new persistent connection would exceed the limit specified in this setting the adapter will instead wait for a connection to become free. Setting this to a value greater than 1 allows multiple simultaneous connections to be made while still taking advantage of persistent connections to reduce the overhead of re-connecting.

Note: This only applies to the send adapter.

The default value is 1.

This property can only be configured through the adapter's static handler property page in the BizTalk Server administration console.

This property is not available in the Receiver.

MaxThreads Property (HTTP Adapter)

The maximum number of threads that the component may consume.

Data Type

Integer

Default Value

20

Remarks

This property limits the number of concurrent threads that the adapter may consume while completing its work.

This property can only be configured through the adapter's static handler property page in the BizTalk Server administration console.

MaxTransmissionBatchSize Property (HTTP Adapter)

The maximum number of messages that can be sent in a single batch.

Data Type

Integer

Default Value

1

Remarks

This property controls the maximum size of an outbound message batch.

Note: be careful when modifying this property as it directly effects the efficiency of the transmit adapter. Setting MaxTransmissionBatchSize to a low value in an environment that requires transmission of large quantities of data will result in the adapter accumulating several small batches. If TransmitBatchMode is set to Parallel, this will result in the adapter transmitting many small batches at once and can put a heavy load on the processor.

Conversely, if TransmitBatchMode is set to Serial, setting MaxTransmissionBatchSize to a large value may result in long transmission delays as the adapter will wait on existing work to complete before accepting new messages from the BizTalk Message Engine. This is especially true when the adapter is transmitting large data.

This property can only be configured through the adapter's static handler property page in the BizTalk Server administration console.

This property is not available in the Receiver.

OAuthAuthorization Property (HTTP Adapter)

OAuth Authorization Information.

Data Type

OAuthAuthorizationParam

Remarks

This property holds details about the OAuth authorization. This includes the following fields:

Other Property (HTTP Adapter)

Defines a set of configuration settings to be used by the component.

Data Type

String

Default Value

""

Remarks

The adapter accepts one or more configuration settings. Configuration settings are similar in functionality to properties, but they are rarely used. In order to avoid "polluting" the property namespace of the adapter, access to these internal properties is provided through the Other property.

The Other property may be set to one or more configuration settings (name/value pairs). Set one setting per line. For example: configname1=value1 configname2=value2

OtherHeaders Property (HTTP Adapter)

Other headers as determined by the user.

Data Type

String

Default Value

""

Remarks

This property optionally specifies headers to be included in addition to the headers generated by the adapter. The headers specified should be valid HTTP headers following the format:

Header: Value

To specify multiple headers enter one header per line. For instance setting:

X-Header1: Value1 X-Header2: Value2

Will result in a request with the following headers:

GET / HTTP/1.1 Host: www.nsoftware.com Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate User-Agent: IPWorks HTTP Component - www.nsoftware.com Connection: close X-Header1: Value1 X-Header2: Value2

Password Property (HTTP Adapter)

A password if authentication is to be used.

Data Type

Password

Default Value

""

Remarks

If HTTP Basic Authentication is used to authenticate the user, User and Password are Base64-encoded.

If HTTP Digest Authentication is used to, the User and Password properties are used to respond to the HTTP Digest Authentication challenge from the server.

PollingInterval Property (HTTP Adapter)

The amount of time, in seconds, between download attempts.

Data Type

Integer

Default Value

60

Remarks

The adapter will wait for the number of seconds indicated before attempting another download.

This property is not available in the Sender.

PostData Property (HTTP Adapter)

The data to be posted to the server.

Data Type

String

Default Value

""

Remarks

This property optionally specifies the raw data to be posted to the server.

If set, this property defines the entire HTTP body to be sent to the server. This is only applicable when the HTTPMethod is set to POST or PUT.

In the HTTP Sender, the %MessageBody% macro can be used to include the contents of the incoming BizTalk message in the PostData property. The adapter replaces this macro with the full BizTalk message body at runtime.

ContentType may be set to define a Content-Type header. No Content-Type header is set by default when PostData is set.

If specified both RequestParams and ContentFileName properties are ignored.

RequestParams Property (HTTP Adapter)

Parameters to add to the POST or PUT request.

Data Type

String

Default Value

""

Remarks

The RequestParams property specifies one or more parameters to add to the POST or PUT request. This property is only applicable when the HTTPMethod property is set to POST or PUT.

To specify additional parameters set this property to one or more name value pairs. Set one pair on each line. For instance: name1=value1 name2=value2

The adapter will format a request with parameters slightly differently depending on whether the request is made by the Send or Receive adapter.

Note: To have complete control over the data being sent set PostData instead.

RequeueEndpoints Property (HTTP Adapter)

Whether to requeue receive endpoints if the polling interval has not been reached.

Data Type

Boolean

Default Value

false

Remarks

This setting controls whether receive endpoints are requeued for later processing if the polling interval has not yet been reached. When this setting is set to No (default) each thread will block until the polling interval for the corresponding receive location is reached. If there exist more active receive locations than MaxThreads it is possible for some threads to block the execution of others since they may be waiting for a polling interval.

When this setting is set to Yes if the polling interval has not been reached the thread will not block until the polling interval is reached, and instead the endpoint will be requeued to be processed later. This lets subsequent endpoints in the queue to be processed.

If MaxThreads is set to a low value and there are a larger number of receive locations setting this to Yes will help assure that polling intervals are respected and receive locations poll in a timely manner.

The default value is No.

This property can only be configured through the adapter's static handler property page in the BizTalk Server administration console.

This property is not available in the Sender.

RuntimeLicense Property (HTTP Adapter)

Specifies the component runtime license key.

Data Type

String

Default Value

""

Remarks

You can use the RuntimeLicense property to set the runtime key for the adapter license.

This property may be configured on the adapter's static handler property page in the BizTalk Server administration console.

SSLAcceptServerCert Property (HTTP Adapter)

Instructs the component to unconditionally accept the server certificate that matches the supplied certificate.

Data Type

Certificate

Remarks

If it finds any issues with the certificate presented by the server, the adapter will normally terminate the connection with an error. You may override this behavior by supplying a value for SSLAcceptServerCert. If the certificate supplied in SSLAcceptServerCert is the same as the certificate presented by the server, then the server certificate is accepted unconditionally, and the connection will continue normally.

This property is used to set a Public Key Certificate.

Ordinarily, the system will attempt to locate the public key in trusted certificate stores in the system registry. If a match is found, the certificate is trusted, and the process proceeds without error. If the certificate is not trusted, the adapter will report an error.

You may explicitly set a public key, either to accept a key that is not installed on the system, or to ensure that a specific key is presented. Public key certificates may be loaded from the machine registry or from file. If you click on the ellipses, a certificate selection dialog will open. To select a public key from the system registry, select the System Store tab or the User Store tab, and highlight the appropriate registry store. The list of available certificates will be shown below.

Alternatively, you may specify a public key on file. Select the PEM or Certificate File tabs to load a public key from file. You can use the browse button to examine the file system for the certificate that you wish to use. Public keys typically are stored in .CER, .DER, or .PEM files, but other formats may be used. You can click on the Open button to examine the contents of the certificate. Or, if you have a certificate stored in memory, you can write the contents of the certificate into the text box provided. Note that if you are loading a certificate from memory, the certificate must be Base-64 encoded, or the string representation of the certificate may become corrupted and uninterpretable.

Regardless of how you selected the certificate, once you hit the OK button, the adapter will attempt to verify that certificate selection. If successful, the subject of the certificate will be displayed in the property field. If the adapter was not able to verify the selection, a dialog box will appear instead detailing the verification error.

Note: You may also set the Accept Any field to Yes without opening the certificate selection dialog to force the adapter to unilaterally authenticate any server during the security handshake. It is strongly recommended that you use this only for testing purposes. Set the LogMode to Info to cause the adapter to report the server's credentials to Location.

SSLCert Property (HTTP Adapter)

The certificate to use for client authentication during the SSL handshake.

Data Type

Certificate

Remarks

This property is used to assign a specific certificate for SSL client authentication.

This field is used to set a Private Key Certificate.

Private key certificates may be loaded from the registry, from files in PKCS#12 format, or from a PEM file format. If you click on the ellipses, a certificate selection dialog will open. To select a private key from the system registry, select the System Store tab or the User Store tab, and highlight the appropriate registry store. The list of certificates which have private keys will be shown below.

To select a private key certificate from a file in PKCS#12 format, select the PFX Store tab. The browse button can be used to examine the file system for PKCS#12 (.pfx or .p12) certificates. If you wish to examine the certificate, provide the password in the field provided and click on the Open button to examine the file store for certificates present. To load a certificate from PEM files, select the PEM tab. Like the PFX file selection, you can specify the password and click the Open button to examine the certificates in the PEM store, or you may paste any PEM data stored in memory.

Regardless of how you selected the certificate, once you hit the OK button, the adapter will attempt to verify that certificate selection. If successful, the subject of the certificate will be displayed in the property field. If the adapter was not able to verify the selection, a dialog box will appear instead detailing the verification error.

TempPath Property (HTTP Adapter)

A temporary local directory where data can be stored before the component processes it.

Data Type

String

Default Value

""

Remarks

This property indicates a temporary directory where the adapter can store any data before the adapter processes it. If TempPath is empty, the adapter will receive all data to memory. If set, the adapter will generate and write all inbound data to a temporary file in the specified directory.

Once the file is submitted, the adapter will handle closing the file stream and deleting the temporary file. However, if the adapter is shut down during a transfer some temporary files may be left in the directory. To ensure optimal performance, server administrators should check the directory regularly and remove old or extraneous files.

This property accepts the "%TEMP%" macro, which will be replaced with the default system temporary directory at runtime. Note: by default, this property is empty and the adapter will use memory streams to store all inbound data before submitting it. It is recommended that you use a temporary directory when downloading large batches or batches containing large files to alleviate potential increased memory requirements.

This property is not available in the Sender.

Timeout Property (HTTP Adapter)

A timeout for the component.

Data Type

Integer

Default Value

60

Remarks

If the Timeout property is set to 0, all operations will run uninterrupted until successful completion, or an error condition is encountered.

If Timeout is set to a positive value, the adapter will wait for the operation to complete before returning control.

If Timeout expires, and the operation is not yet complete, the adapter fails with an error.

Please note that by default, all timeouts are inactivity timeouts, i.e. the timeout period is extended by Timeout seconds when data is successfully sent or received.

Optionally, the behavior of the adapter may be changed to absolute timeouts, i.e. the adapter will wait for a maximum of Timeout seconds since the beginning of the operation, without extending the timeout period during communications.

This behavior is controlled by the AbsoluteTimeout configuration setting.

The default value for the Timeout property is 60 (seconds).

TransferredData Property (HTTP Adapter)

The body of the HTTP response.

Remarks

This type describes the current digital certificate. The certificate may be a public or private key. The fields are used to identify or select certificates.

Fields

Store
String

Default Value: "MY"

The name of the certificate store for the client certificate.

The StoreType field specifies the type of the certificate store specified by Store. If the store is password protected, specify the password in StorePassword.

Store is used in conjunction with the Subject field in order to specify client certificates. If Store has a value, and Subject is set, a search for a certificate is initiated. Please refer to the Subject field for details.

Designations of certificate stores are platform-dependent.

The following are designations of the most common User and Machine certificate stores in Windows:

MYA certificate store holding personal certificates with their associated private keys.
CACertifying authority certificates.
ROOTRoot certificates.
SPCSoftware publisher certificates.

In Java, the certificate store normally is a file containing certificates and optional private keys.

When the certificate store type is PFXFile, this property must be set to the name of the file. When the type is PFXBlob, the property must be set to the binary contents of a PFX file (i.e. PKCS12 certificate store).

If the provider is OpenSSL, the certificate store is a file containing a certificate and a private key. This property must be set to the name of the file.

StorePassword
String

Default Value: ""

If the certificate store is of a type that requires a password, this property is used to specify that password in order to open the certificate store.

StoreType
CertStoreTypes

Default Value: 0

The type of certificate store for this certificate.

The adapter supports both public and private keys in a variety of formats. When the cstAuto value is used, the adapter will automatically determine the type. This field can take one of the following values:

0 (cstUser - default)For Windows, this specifies that the certificate store is a certificate store owned by the current user.

Note: This store type is not available in Java.

1 (cstMachine)For Windows, this specifies that the certificate store is a machine store.

Note: This store type is only available in Java and .NET.

23 (cstPKCS11)The certificate is present on a physical security key accessible via a PKCS#11 interface.

To use a security key, the necessary data must first be collected using the CERTMGR adapter. The ListStoreCertificates method may be called after setting CertStoreType to cstPKCS11, CertStorePassword to the PIN, and CertStore to the full path of the PKCS#11 DLL. The certificate information returned in the CertList event's CertEncoded parameter may be saved for later use.

When using a certificate, pass the previously saved security key information as the Store and set StorePassword to the PIN.

Code Example. SSH Authentication with Security Key: certmgr.CertStoreType = CertStoreTypes.cstPKCS11; certmgr.OnCertList += (s, e) => { secKeyBlob = e.CertEncoded; }; certmgr.CertStore = @"C:\Program Files\OpenSC Project\OpenSC\pkcs11\opensc-pkcs11.dll"; certmgr.CertStorePassword = "123456"; //PIN certmgr.ListStoreCertificates(); sftp.SSHCert = new Certificate(CertStoreTypes.cstPKCS11, secKeyBlob, "123456", "*"); sftp.SSHUser = "test"; sftp.SSHLogon("myhost", 22);

99 (cstAuto)The store type is automatically detected from the input data. This setting may be used with both public and private keys and can detect any of the supported formats automatically.

Subject
String

Default Value: ""

The subject of the certificate used for client authentication.

When this property is set, a search is performed in the current certificate store certificate with matching subject.

If an exact match is not found, the store is searched for subjects containing the value of the property.

When setting the property to a partial subject, CN= should be omitted. For example, the following code would find the certificate with subject CN=Test Certificate, OU=People, C=US

Example (Searching with partial subject)

Control.CertSubject = "Test"

If a match is not found, the property is set to an empty string, and no certificate is selected.

The special value "*" picks a random certificate in the certificate store.

If a matching certificate is found, Subject is set to the full subject of the matching certificate.

Thumbprint
String (read-only)

Default Value: ""

The thumbprint of the certificate.

This field is used to specify the thumbprint of the certificate. When there are multiple certificates in the store that have the same subject, the thumbprint will be used to distinguish between them.

public Log(LogTypes logType, string location, LogModes logMode);

OAuthAuthorizationParam Type

This type holds details of the OAuth authorization.

Remarks

This type holds details of the OAuth authorization.

Fields

AuthorizationScopes
String

Default Value: ""

A space separated list of scopes as defined by the authorization server.

AuthorizationString
String

Default Value: ""

The OAuth Authorization string. This field holds the current OAuth authorization string. This is retrieved during the OAuth authorization process and is used to authenticate the request. This is a string like:

Bearer ya29.AHES6ZSZEJzATdZYjeihDn5W-VrXSsxEZu5p0pclxGdKKQ

CacheLocation
String

Default Value: ""

The location on disk of the OAuth Cache File.

This field specifies the location on disk of the OAuth cache file. This file holds OAuth credentials that may be automatically used during runtime and by other ports using the same provider. The adapter uses the data within the cache file to automatically refresh expired tokens at runtime. Do not alter the contents of the file directly.

One file for each provider is used by default. For instance for Box the value is: %APPDATA%\nsoftware\CloudStorage BizTalk Adapter\BoxOAuthCache.txt

This value may be specified manually as well.

CallbackURL
String

Default Value: ""

The Callback URL used during OAuth authorization.

This field specifies the local URL to which the browser is redirected when initially performing authorization. When initially establishing Authorization set this value to the redirect URI that is registered for your application with the service provider. For instance "http://localhost:7777".

The adapter will parse this URL and start a small embedded web server on the specified port to receive the OAuth response from the provider during OAuth authorization.

This value is required to perform OAuth authorization.

ClientId
String

Default Value: ""

The id of the client assigned when registering the application.

This field holds the id of the client that was assigned when initially registering the application.

This value is required to perform OAuth authorization.

ClientSecret
String

Default Value: ""

The secret of the client assigned when registering the application.

This field holds the secret of the client that was assigned when initially registering the application.

This value is required to perform OAuth authorization.

ExpiresIn
Integer

Default Value: 0

The expiration time of the current OAuth authorization string.

This value is populated after OAuth authorization and holds the expiration time of the OAuth access token as reported by the service provider. This is used at runtime to calculate whether the token should be refreshed before attempting an operation. If the token is expired the adapter will automatically refresh the token. If the token is not expired the adapter will use the current token.

This value should not be set manually.

Note: Not all providers provide this value. For instance Dropbox access tokens never expire.

RefreshToken
String

Default Value: ""

The refresh token received from or sent to the authorization server.

This field holds the refresh token received during the initial OAuth authorization. It is used by the adapter to automatically request a new AuthorizationString when the current value expires.

ServerAuthURL
String

Default Value: ""

The URL of the authorization server.

ServerTokenURL
String

Default Value: ""

The URL of the token server.

ServiceProvider
String

Default Value: ""

The service provider to authenticate with.

This field defines the service provider. This is used when performing OAuth authorization. OAuth authorization is only applicable to some providers. If the provider does not support OAuth a warning will be displayed. Possible values when using the Cloud Storage adapter are:

  • Amazon S3
  • Azure Blob
  • Azure File
  • Backblaze B2
  • Box.com
  • Digital Ocean Spaces
  • Dropbox
  • Google Cloud Storage
  • Google Drive
  • Hadoop DFS
  • IBM Cloud Object Storage
  • Linode Object Storage
  • Microsoft OneDrive
  • Wasabi
Possible values when using the Email adapter are:

  • Gmail
  • Other

TimeStamp
String

Default Value: "0"

The timestamp of the OAuth authorization string.

This field holds the timestamp of when the AuthorizationString was retrieved. This is used in conjunction with ExpiresIn to calculate if refreshing the token is required. For more details see ExpiresIn.

This value should not be set manually.

public OAuthAuthorizationParam();

Proxy Type

The proxy the component will connect to.

Remarks

When connecting through a proxy, this type is used to specify different properties of the proxy such as the Server and the AuthScheme.

Fields

AuthScheme
ProxyAuthSchemes

Default Value: 0

Use the AuthScheme field to tell the adapter which type of authorization to perform when connecting to the proxy. This is only used when the User and Password fields are set.

AuthScheme should be set to authNone (3) when no authentication is expected.

By default, AuthScheme is authBasic (0), and if the User and Password fields are set, the component will attempt basic authentication. If AuthScheme is set to authDigest (1), digest authentication will be attempted instead.

If AuthScheme is set to authProprietary (2), then the authorization token will not be generated by the adapter. Look at the configuration file for the adapter being used to find more information about manually setting this token.

If AuthScheme is set to authNtlm (4), NTLM authentication will be used. This option is only available in the SSL package.

For security reasons, setting this property will clear the values of User and Password.

AutoDetect
Boolean

Default Value: False

Tells the adapter whether or not to automatically detect and use proxy system settings, if available.

Password
String

Default Value: ""

A password if authentication is to be used for the proxy.

If AuthScheme is set to Basic Authentication, the User and Password are Base64 encoded and the proxy authentication token will be generated in the form "Basic [encoded-user-password]".

If AuthScheme is set to Digest Authentication, the User and Password fields are used to respond to the Digest Authentication challenge from the server.

If AuthScheme is set to NTLM Authentication, the User and Password fields are used to authenticate through NTLM negotiation.

Port
Integer

Default Value: 80

The TCP port for the proxy Server (default 80). See the description of the Server field for details.

Server
String

Default Value: ""

If a proxy Server is given, then the HTTP request is sent to the proxy instead of the server otherwise specified.

If the Server field is set to a Domain Name, a DNS request is initiated and upon successful termination of the request, the Server field is set to the corresponding address. If the search is not successful, an error is returned.

SSL
ProxySSLTypes

Default Value: 0

Determines when to use SSL for the connection to the proxy. The applicable values are the following:

psAutomatic (0)Default setting. The connection to the Server is SSL-enabled for 'https' URL-s, and non SSL-enabled for other URL-s.
psAlways (1)The connection is always SSL-enabled.
psNever (2)The connection is not SSL-enabled.
psTunnel (3)The connection is through a tunneling (HTTP) proxy.

User
String

Default Value: ""

A user name, if authentication is to be used for the proxy.

Config Settings (HTTP Adapter)

The adapter accepts one or more of the following configuration settings. Configuration settings are similar in functionality to properties, but they are rarely used. In order to avoid "polluting" the property namespace of the adapter, access to these internal properties is provided through the Other property.

HTTP Config Settings

Accept:   A list of acceptable MIME types for the request.

If this setting contains a non-empty string, a HTTP Accept header is added to the request.

The Accept header is used for content negotiation. It provides the server with a comma-separated list of MIME types that are acceptable for its response.

AcceptEncoding:   Used to tell the server which types of content encodings the client supports.

When AllowHTTPCompression is true, the adapter adds an "Accept-Encoding: " header to the request being sent to the server. By default, this header's value is "gzip, deflate". This config allows you to change the value of the "Accept-Encoding" header. NOTE: The adapter only supports gzip and deflate decompression algorithms.

AddBodyAsMessageProperty:   This setting causes the adapter to include the response body as a property on the message.

When false (default), the response body will only be available in the message body. When set to true, the response body will also be included in the TransferredData property.

AllowHTTPCompression:   This property enables HTTP compression for receiving data.

This setting enables HTTP compression for receiving data. When set to true, the adapter will accept compressed data. It will then uncompress the data it has received. The adapter will handle data compressed by both GZIP and Deflate compression algorithms.

When true, the adapter adds an "Accept-Encoding" header to the outgoing request. The value for this header can be controlled by the AcceptEncoding config. The default value for this header is "gzip, deflate".

AllowHTTPFallback:   Specifies whether HTTP/2 connections can fall back to HTTP/1.1.

This setting controls whether HTTP/2 connections are permitted to fallback to HTTP/1.1 when the server does not support HTTP/2. This setting is only applicable when HTTPVersion is set to "2.0".

If set to True (default) the adapter will automatically use HTTP/1.1 if the server does not support HTTP/2. If set to False the adapter fails with an error if the server does not support HTTP/2.

The default value is True.

ChunkSize:   Specifies the chunk size in bytes when using chunked encoding.

This is only applicable when UseChunkedEncoding is true. This setting specifies the chunk size in bytes to be used when posting data. The default value is 16384.

CustomRequestMethod:   Specifies the HTTP method to be used.

This setting may be used to specify a HTTP method that is not already supported via HTTPMethod. If specified PostData is also applicable.

EncodeURL:   If set to true the URL will be encoded by the component.

If set to True the URL passed to the adapter will be URL encoded. The default value is False.

IfModifiedSince:   A date determining the maximum age of the desired document.

If this setting contains a non-empty string, an If-Modified-Since HTTP header is added to the request. The value of this header is used to make the HTTP request conditional: if the requested documented has not been modified since the time specified in the field, a copy of the document will not be returned from the server; instead, a 304 (not modified) response will be returned by the server and the component throws an exception

The format of the date value for IfModifiedSince is detailed in the HTTP specs. An example is: Sat, 29 Oct 2017 19:43:31 GMT.

KerberosSPN:   The Service Principal Name for the Kerberos Domain Controller.

If the Service Principal Name on the Kerberos Domain Controller is not the same as the URL that you are authenticating to, the Service Principal Name should be set here.

LogDebugData:   Whether to log debug data.

This setting controls whether the raw HTTP Request and Response are logged. The default value is False. This is only applicable if TransportLog LogMode is set to Verbose.

LogErrorBody:   Whether to include the body of an error in the log message.

When false (default), log messages generated for an exception will only include the HTTP status code, and not the body of the response. When true, the adapter will include the body of the response in the log message. This might be useful for some endpoints where the response body contains further information on the error.

MaxRedirectAttempts:   Limits the number of redirects that are followed in a request.

When FollowRedirects is set to any value besides frNever the adapter will follow redirects until this maximum number of redirect attempts are made. The default value is 20.

Pragma:   A browser/server specific header line (optional).

If this setting contains a non-empty string, a Pragma HTTP request header is added to the request. The meaning of the header depends on the implementation and can be used to send/receive proprietary information to/from the server.

Range:   The byte-range to be sent to the server.

If this setting contains a non-empty string, a Range HTTP request header is added to the request. This header tells the server to only send a certain range of bytes.

The format of this setting consists of a range of bytes specified by two numbers separated by '-' (e.g. "0-499")

For example:

First 500 bytes 0-499
Second 500 bytes 500-999
Final 500 bytes -500

Referer:   Referer URL/document (optional).

If this setting contains a non-empty string, a Referer HTTP request header is added to the request. The purpose of the header is to show the document referring the requested URL.

ResponseBodyAlwaysAvailable:   Whether the response body is always available.

When false (default), the adapter will only make the response body available if the status code is 200 or 201. When true, the adapter will always make any response body available.

SubmitErrorAsMessage:   Whether errors are submitted as BizTalk messages.

Normally if errors occur the adapter will throw a BizTalk-level error, and potentially shutdown if the error is severe enough. In certain scenarios it may be useful to instead submit the error as a BizTalk message. This allows another portion of an application to handle the error, for example a custom pipeline. Set this to true to submit any errors as BizTalk messages. Be aware that setting this to true will prevent the adapter from shutting down on its own -- you will be resposible for disabling it.

The default value is false.

TransferredDataLimit:   The maximum of data to be transferred.

This setting contains the maximum of data to be transferred. The default value is 0, which will not impose any limits on the amount of data accumulated.

UseChunkedEncoding:   Enables or Disables HTTP chunked encoding for transfers.

If UseChunkedEncoding is set to true, the adapter will use HTTP chunked encoding when posting if possible. HTTP chunked encoding allows large files to be sent in chunks instead of all at once. If set to false, the adapter will not use HTTP chunked encoding. The default value is false.

Note: Some servers (such as the ASP.NET Development Server) may not support chunked encoding.

UserAgent:   Information about the user agent (browser).

This is the value supplied in the HTTP User-Agent header. The default setting is "IPWorks HTTP Component - www.nsoftware.com".

Override the default with the name and version of your software.

SSL Config Settings

ReuseSSLSession:   Determines if the SSL session is reused.

If set to true, the adapter will reuse the context if and only if the following criteria are met:

  • The target host name is the same.
  • The system cache entry has not expired (default timeout is 10 hours).
  • The application process that calls the function is the same.
  • The logon session is the same.
  • The instance of the adapter is the same.

SSLCipherStrength:   The minimum cipher strength used for bulk encryption.

This minimum cipher strength largely dependent on the security modules installed on the system. If the cipher strength specified is not supported, an error will be returned when connections are initiated.

Please note that this setting contains the minimum cipher strength requested from the security library.

Use this setting with caution. Requesting a lower cipher strength than necessary could potentially cause serious security vulnerabilities in your application.

SSLEnabledCipherSuites:   The cipher suite to be used in an SSL negotiation.

The enabled cipher suites to be used in SSL negotiation.

By default, the enabled cipher suites will include all available ciphers ("*").

The special value "*" means that the adapter will pick all of the supported cipher suites. If SSLEnabledCipherSuites is set to any other value, only the specified cipher suites will be considered.

Multiple cipher suites are separated by semicolons.

Example values when UseInternalSecurityAPI is False (default): // The "Other" property could contain ONE of the following lines: SSLEnabledCipherSuites=* SSLEnabledCipherSuites=CALG_AES_256 SSLEnabledCipherSuites=CALG_AES_256;CALG_3DES Possible values when UseInternalSecurityAPI is False (default) include:

If SSLEnabledProtocols is configured to use TLS 1.3 the following values are supported:

  • TLS_AES_128_GCM_SHA256
  • TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384

SSLEnabledCipherSuites is used together with SSLCipherStrength.

SSLEnabledProtocols:   Used to enable/disable the supported security protocols.

Used to enable/disable the supported security protocols.

Not all supported protocols are enabled by default (the value of this setting is 4032). If you want more granular control over the enabled protocols, you can set this property to the binary 'OR' of one or more of the following values:

TLS1.312288 (Hex 3000) (Experimental)
TLS1.23072 (Hex C00) (Default)
TLS1.1768 (Hex 300) (Default)
TLS1 192 (Hex C0) (Default)
SSL3 48 (Hex 30)
SSL2 12 (Hex 0C)

Note: TLS 1.1 and TLS1.2 support are only available starting with Windows 7.

Note: Enabling TLS 1.3 will automatically set UseInternalSecurityAPI to True.

SSLIncludeCertChain:   Whether the entire certificate chain is included in the SSLServerAuthentication event.

This setting specifies whether the transport log contains the full certificate chain. By default this value is False and only the leaf certificate will be present.

If set to True all certificates returned by the server will be present in the transport log. This includes the leaf certificate, any intermediate certificate, and the root certificate.

Note: When UseInternalSecurityAPI is set to True this value is automatically set to True. This is needed for proper validation when using the internal provider.

SSLSecurityFlags:   Flags that control certificate verification.

The following flags are defined (specified in hexadecimal notation). They can be or-ed together to exclude multiple conditions:

0x00000001Ignore time validity status of certificate.
0x00000002Ignore time validity status of CTL.
0x00000004Ignore non-nested certificate times.
0x00000010Allow unknown Certificate Authority.
0x00000020Ignore wrong certificate usage.
0x00000100Ignore unknown certificate revocation status.
0x00000200Ignore unknown CTL signer revocation status.
0x00000400Ignore unknown Certificate Authority revocation status.
0x00000800Ignore unknown Root revocation status.
0x00008000Allow test Root certificate.
0x00004000Trust test Root certificate.
0x80000000Ignore non-matching CN (certificate CN not-matching server name).

TLS12SignatureAlgorithms:   Defines the allowed TLS 1.2 signature algorithms when UseInternalSecurityAPI is True.

This setting specifies the allowed server certificate signature algorithms when UseInternalSecurityAPI is True and SSLEnabledProtocols is set to allow TLS 1.2.

When specified the adapter will verify that the server certificate signature algorithm is among the values specified in this setting. If the server certificate signature algorithm is unsupported the adapter will fail with an error.

The format of this value is a comma separated list of hash-signature combinations. For instance: // The "Other" could contain ALL of these lines: UseInternalSecurityAPI=true SSLEnabledProtocols=3072 TLS12SignatureAlgorithms=sha1-rsa,sha1-dsa,sha256-rsa,sha256-dsa The default value for this setting is "sha1-rsa,sha1-dsa,sha224-rsa,sha224-dsa,sha256-rsa,sha256-dsa,sha384-rsa,sha384-dsa,sha512-rsa,sha512-dsa".

In order to not restrict the server's certificate signature algorithm, specify an empty string as the value for this setting, which will cause the signature_algorithms TLS 1.2 extension to not be sent.

TLS12SupportedGroups:   The supported groups for ECC.

This setting specifies a comma separated list of named groups used in TLS 1.2 for ECC.

The default value is ecdhe_secp256r1,ecdhe_secp384r1,ecdhe_secp521r1.

When using TLS 1.2 and UseInternalSecurityAPI is set to True, the values refer to the supported groups for ECC. The following values are supported:

  • "ecdhe_secp256r1" (default)
  • "ecdhe_secp384r1" (default)
  • "ecdhe_secp521r1" (default)

TLS13KeyShareGroups:   The groups for which to pregenerate key shares.

This setting specifies a comma separated list of named groups used in TLS 1.3 for key exchange. The groups specified here will have key share data pregenerated locally before establishing a connection. This can prevent an additional round trip during the handshake if the group is supported by the server.

The default value is set to balance common supported groups and the computational resources required to generate key shares. As a result only some groups are included by default in this setting.

Note: All supported groups can always be used during the handshake even if not listed here, but if a group is used which is not present in this list it will incur an additional round trip and time to generate the key share for that group.

In most cases this setting does not need to be modified. This should only be modified if there is a specific reason to do so.

The default value is ecdhe_x25519,ecdhe_secp256r1,ecdhe_secp384r1,ffdhe_2048,ffdhe_3072

The values are ordered from most preferred to least preferred. The following values are supported:

  • "ecdhe_x25519" (default)
  • "ecdhe_x448"
  • "ecdhe_secp256r1" (default)
  • "ecdhe_secp384r1" (default)
  • "ecdhe_secp521r1"
  • "ffdhe_2048" (default)
  • "ffdhe_3072" (default)
  • "ffdhe_4096"
  • "ffdhe_6144"
  • "ffdhe_8192"

TLS13SignatureAlgorithms:   The allowed certificate signature algorithms.

This setting holds a comma separated list of allowed signature algorithms. Possible values are:

  • "rsa_pkcs1_sha256" (default)
  • "rsa_pkcs1_sha384" (default)
  • "rsa_pkcs1_sha512" (default)
The default value is rsa_pkcs1_sha256,rsa_pkcs1_sha384,rsa_pkcs1_sha512. This setting is only applicable when SSLEnabledProtocols includes TLS 1.3.
TLS13SupportedGroups:   The supported groups for (EC)DHE key exchange.

This setting specifies a comma separated list of named groups used in TLS 1.3 for key exchange. This setting should only be modified if there is a specific reason to do so.

The default value is ecdhe_x25519,ecdhe_x448,ecdhe_secp256r1,ecdhe_secp384r1,ecdhe_secp521r1,ffdhe_2048,ffdhe_3072,ffdhe_4096,ffdhe_6144,ffdhe_8192

The values are ordered from most preferred to least preferred. The following values are supported:

  • "ecdhe_x25519" (default)
  • "ecdhe_x448" (default)
  • "ecdhe_secp256r1" (default)
  • "ecdhe_secp384r1" (default)
  • "ecdhe_secp521r1" (default)
  • "ffdhe_2048" (default)
  • "ffdhe_3072" (default)
  • "ffdhe_4096" (default)
  • "ffdhe_6144" (default)
  • "ffdhe_8192" (default)

General Config Settings

AbsoluteTimeout:   Determines whether timeouts are inactivity timeouts or absolute timeouts.

If AbsoluteTimeout is set to True, any method which does not complete within Timeout seconds will be aborted. By default, AbsoluteTimeout is False, and the timeout is an inactivity timeout.

LocalHost:   The name of the local host or user-assigned IP interface through which connections are initiated or accepted.

The LocalHost configuration contains the name of the local host as obtained by the Gethostname() system call, or if the user has assigned an IP address, the value of that address.

In multihomed hosts (machines with more than one IP interface) setting LocalHost to the value of an interface will make the adapter initiate connections (or accept in the case of server adapters) only through that interface.

If the adapter is connected, the LocalHost configuration shows the IP address of the interface through which the connection is made in internet dotted format (aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd). In most cases, this is the address of the local host, except for multihomed hosts (machines with more than one IP interface).

TcpNoDelay:   Whether or not to delay when sending packets.

When set to True, the socket will send all data that are ready to send at once. When set to False, the socket will send smaller buffered packets of data at small intervals. This is known as the Nagle algorithm.

By default, this configuration setting is set to False.

UseInternalSecurityAPI:   Whether or not to use the system security libraries or an internal implementation.

When set to False, the adapter will use the system security libraries by default to perform cryptographic functions where applicable. In this case, calls to unmanaged code will be made. In certain environments, this is not desirable. To use a completely managed security implementation, set this setting to True.

Setting this configuration setting to True tells the adapter to use the internal implementation instead of using the system security libraries.

On Windows, this setting is set to False by default. On Linux/macOS, this setting is set to True by default.

If using the .NET Standard Library, this setting will be True on all platforms. The .NET Standard library does not support using the system security libraries.

Note: This setting is static. The value set is applicable to all adapters used in the application.

When this value is set, the product's system dynamic link library (DLL) is no longer required as a reference, as all unmanaged code is stored in that file.

Supported Macros

The adapter also supports the following Macros. These values are not case sensitive and would be supplied to a property in the form %MacroName%.

TempThis is resolved to the full path to the system's temporary directory. MessageIDGlobally unique identifier (GUID) of the message in BizTalk Server. SourceFileNameThe original file name. This includes the extension and excludes the file path, for example, Sample.xml SourceFileNameNoExtThe original file name without the extension or file path, for example, Sample RemoteFileNameThe name of the file as it was uploaded to the remote server.
